Udita was born on September 2, 1984 in Dehra Dun, the capital of Uttarkhand to her parents who originally held from north eastern state of Assam. She studied in D.A.V. Public school till 8th standard and she always preferred to be in the midst of showbiz and finally decided to leave the town and headed to Mumbai despite some initial opposition from her parents.

"If you are living alone in Mumbai, there is always tension because the lifestyle is very different here.
On asked why it's always said that she has an unusual outlook towards life, Udita said, "I think I am a normal girl ad I don't think there is anything unusual in my outlook to life."
